Okay, I’ve officially had it with lunch at work! Every time we get more than two people together to get lunch, it turns into a fiasco. This is about how it goes:
Well-Meaning Hungry Person: “Hey Ted, I’m going to run to some restaurant, are you in?”
Ted: “You bet, I want …”
Now, it could end here and avoid fiasco status, but it doesn’t. The person who starts the lunch order thinks, “Gee, it would be polite if I asked others in the office too.” Here is where the whole thing starts to go wrong.

So, it’s that time of year again. I’m beginning to start to put together personal and professional goals for the next year. I tend to do this process every fall so I don’t get lost over the winter and watch too much television.
Everyone keeps telling me that I need to have SMART[1] goals, but I don’t believe it. Anything really great that I have ever undertaken has started with a goal that was COMPLETELY INSANE at the time. There was no possible way to measure it and that was because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.
Clearly, I was naive when I attempted these feats, but I’ll let you in on a little secret…

Recently, I was responding to the Windows Updates on Apple OSX desktop at work and I was presented the following choice:

Now, this is one of the reasons I ditched Microsoft Windows in favor of GNU/Linux way back when that was cool (it still is cool, but I sometimes need MSOffice). Now, my Macintosh is doing the same thing! Well done Steve.
